Want to Bring Email Marketing In-House?

Sundays are usually spend for self reflection. Whether you spend it thinking about yourself, your family, or your business it's always a good time to be thankful for all the good and all the challenges in your life.

I got to sit down with one of my favorite entrepreneurs, Chase Dimond, a few weeks ago and we had a really honest conversation about email marketing and the agency life. I've hired Chase's agency, Boundless, for over two years now and I essentially asked him what I would need to do to fire his team and bring the operation in house.

His answers were amazing and too good not to break down in writing. Safe to say his team's not going anywhere and I get way more bang for my buck with an agency then I do having to source, hire, and manage freelancers or full time employees.

What Positions Do You Need:

  1. Email Strategist: understands the importance of retention email campaigns and is someone who is different than an SEO strategist

  2. Creative Graphic Designer: has the ability to grab the reader's attention through engaging visual elements

  3. Copywriter: has the ability to engage the reader through written word that plays off of the design

  4. Email Developer (or an employee with adequate technical skills): can develop emails and integrations

Just starting with email? Here are the flows you 100% need set up first

  1.  Welcome Flow: 3-7 step email flow to get customers introduced to your brand, provide FOMO, make them want to make a purchase

  2. Abandon Cart Flow: your customer was so close to checking out! Get that back into the funnel and remind them why they need to buy

  3. Post Purchase Flow: great you got a new customer. It's time to make them evangelists for your brand. Get them to spread the good word and come back for more.

Target Goals:

This is 100% a blanket statements and not factual for every brand; however, after working closely with hundreds of DTC brands you should strive for your email revenue to be as close as possible to 20-30% of your revenue.
